Here I show you how to customize your shopkins so you can turn them into unique and awesome looking new Shopkins. This is a really fun DIY project! With a few modifications that anyone can do, you’ll make any Shopkins a Super Ultra Rare collector toy!
The toy that I’ve used for my project is D’lish Donut. I gave her a clear coat with glitter and painted candy pieces. She turned out really nice and it was really fun to do. It took about 2 hours over the course of a few days. It was well worth it and now I have a unique Shopkins that nobody else has.
What you’ll need:
- Acetone (nail polish remover)
- Cotton Pad or Ball
- Acrylic Paint
- Paintbrush
- Glitter
- Water Based Sealant
Make sure you follow all the steps in the order that I do them. When you’re finished with your design and happy with the way it looks, then apply the sealant. Once you add the sealant it locks in the beautiful design that you’ve created but also makes it difficult to redo or adjust. It’s not important to use the acetone to remove some of the original paint, it just makes it a lot easier and nicer to paint over top. It can be quite strong smelling and dangerous in the wrong hands. Some parents can opt out of their children using it, for safety reasons.
As always, make sure that where you have your work station, keep it clean. This can be a messy project and you’ll no doubt get paint or glitter everywhere. But most importantly, when doing this diy project, have fun. It’s a great way to learn how to customize your Shopkins and turn them into something unique. Good luck!
